The Roundtable will be a natural extension of the previous four Indigenous employment in local government roundtables, while taking advantage of both the Congress theme and being in the Top End to have a look at both:
- The Value Proposition for LG in employing Indigenous people – including the business case, practitioner case studies, etc – in order to engage more LG decision makers from across Australia to take action on increasing Indigenous workforce participation; and,
- The Value Proposition for Indigenous people to work in LG, given that it offers place-based employment and diverse career pathways.
The Roundtable will also explore the ways in which local government is supporting more Indigenous employees to move into supervisory, management and leadership positions, particularly in remote councils.
